Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Michael is the CEO and co-founder of M2 Media Group and a veteran in the magazine publishing industry. Prior to M2, Michael was a Vice President at Synapse, a division of Time Inc., where he founded and presided over Freebizmag, a leading distributor of business and trade publications. Formerly he was Vice President of Circulation at The Petersen Companies—publisher of more than 100 consumer magazines—where he was responsible for more than $100 million of circulation revenue. Michael served as part of the Executive Team responsible for buying the company from Robert Petersen, taking the company public and selling the company to Emap, LLC through a stock buyout for a return of nearly $1 billion. In 2010, Michael was named a semi-finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Metro New York area. He holds one patent and has authored two additional patents pending. Michael holds a BA from The Colorado College.

Michael is the President and co-founder of M2 Media Group and has an extensive background in partnership development. Prior to M2, Michael was an Executive Director at Synapse, a division of Time Inc., where he headed sales and business development for its interactive group. He oversaw one of the company's largest partnerships, with Amazon, managing operations for 1,000+ consumer magazine titles. Previously, he was VP of Business Development at Vcommerce Corporation where he helped grow the venture-backed start-up into a leading provider of outsourced e-commerce services. He has also held business development positions at AOL and Cendant Corporation. Earlier in his career Michael was president and founder of TCL Sports, the largest network of corporate sports leagues in Boston. In 2010, he was named a semi-finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Metro New York area. Michael holds a BA from Boston College, a JD from Suffolk University, and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.

Michael is Vice President, Sales at M2, where he is responsible for developing new strategic partnerships and consultative selling. Michael joined M2 after nearly 20 years of experience at QSP, a division of Time Inc. and the nation’s largest youth fundraising organization. At QSP, he was the Vice President of National Accounts and Strategic Development, where he was instrumental in achieving sustained growth in National Accounts and in creating an innovative digital platform that increased outreach and reduced costs. Michael also worked at Envision, a youth leadership organization, where he was Vice President of Global Sales. Prior to M2, Karen was Marketing Director at Time Inc., where she was responsible for QSP’s National Accounts and their Canadian fundraising business. She started her career at Ziff Davis where she won the Circulation Management Excellence award in 1998, 1999 and 2000. She was Associate Director of Audience Development at UBM overseeing their controlled circulation publications including InformationWeek and InternetWeek. Karen managed freebizmag at Synapse where she oversaw email marketing, 300+ publisher and partner clients, digital marketing, fulfillment, P&Ls and was the 2008 recipient of the Synapse innovation award.
